We have been thinking about 'Where in the World ...?' we would like to visit or even live. We looked through lots of travel brochures and chose some special activities. We then had to work out which continent our chosen holiday place was in. There weren't any holidays in Africa. We wondered why?

A little late....

I found a picture of one of the Mothers Day cards that the Brainiest 24 hand crafted for their special mums. I was amazed at how carefully you guys worked with finger-painting, and not, hopefully, all over each other! Some very thoughtful and touching poetry too, Well done Room 13.

Reading Box Blue

Our class Room13 does the reading box blue. There are 14 levels in colours. Lots of people are on Turquoise. There are cards we pick one each, Then we read the sentences.
After that we answer some questions. Then we get the answer card and check them. We also have a progress chart. If we colour it red it means we got less than 10 or if we get it between 10 and 14 we would colour it orange. Or if we got 15 or more we colour it green.

The Iron Man - coming to a classroom near you.

Over the last few weeks we have been working on a movie of The Iron Man based on the novel by Ted Hughes. We worked in groups to storyboard main events, dialogue and sound effects. Mr Grant kindly let us borrow his new Flip camera. We thought about how to film the parts to be really powerful. Mr A used Windows Moviemaker to put the film together but we will all have a go at putting our parts together to try it out. Any Windows PC has Moviemaker installed, Macs can use iMovie so have a go at home and bring one in to share!

She has a beautiful voice and plays the guitar really well. Click the link below to hear her sing or visit her website here.

Zak's yummy birthday cake

It was Zak's Birthday and he brought a yummy chocolate cake to share, nice one Zak and Happy Birthday !

Our Precious Box poetry

We tried to imagine that we had to collect up some precious things to keep. The box is very small so we could only take the essence of the precious things with us. We had to unpack our ideas until we got to the essence. We used Voicethread to upload our published poems and are working on presenting our poetry to the world! This became quite topical when many families in Christchurch lost family, friends their homes and belongings.

Welcome back to school and I hope you have enjoyed the summer break.

Our first couple of weeks back are very much filled with getting settled into our routines and finding out about our new class-mates. We also have swimming lessons every day while the sunshine lasts. We had a swimming gala to show our new swimming skills.
